Day 6: Journal 20/4/2014

Easter Sunday...

It's been a heavy weekend. Drinking, eating, having a geekfest on the sofa.

Today has its own complications.

For our anniversary I've book Himself and I on a spa day at a local hotel. A morning of relaxing before we pick up the kids from the inlaws. Then it's Sunday Lunch time, a huge hurdle on its own.

I'm rather nervous about the spa as I'm not sure what to expect and I don't like being touched - and I booked a massage. Things could get interesting.

6pm.  I'm back from the spa. I've been a brave little toaster today. I've been out in public wearing a swimsuit. And I've had a back massage. Just the idea made me shudder, but I sucked it up - put on my big girl pants and decided to try it out.

Do you know what, it's wasn't too bad. Although 6 hours later I'm starting to get a couple of aches and tender bits where she seems to concentrate most and I honestly think any tension that was there was pushed into my arms!

So food wise I am back on track today, keeping it low calorie at the inlaws is never easy when they put an enormous spread on with 3 different desserts. I always feel bad for skipping most of the main course and the puddings too.

If you have seen my food diary you will see how I got through lunch and tea has been tuna and some leftover stir-fried veg. One more bank holiday day to get through then it will be plain sailing again until the weekend. I'm already hoping that I will get a nice number on the scales on Wednesday. I'm probably hoping for far too much, but I'm still hoping away. If it keeps me away from the biscuit barrel and the bread bin I'll continue to do it too.

That negative nelly in my head keeps piping up too, right now saying what if you don't do it. What if you stay in the comfort zone where it's nice and warm and there's chocolate and unlimited pizza. What if you do it and you get on the ride and it still doesn't fit. What if your best is just not good enough.

I'm trying to ignore that voice and tell it to do one.

Day 5: Journal 19/4/2014

It's Easter Saturday today, it's also my Wedding Anniversary.

11 years ago today I got married. It was also the day that a woman came up to me, I was in my wedding dress part way through taking photographs, and told me I should have lost weight for my wedding.

Seriously, who does that? Talk about rude. Thing is, at that point I was smaller than I am now, and I had actually lost about 3 stone. Where does anyone get off on doing that on someone's wedding day.

But let's not talk about that right now.

What shall we talk about? I know how about My Fitness Pal.

Gosh what an app. I love it. You can use it for support, information, or even just to log your calories in calories out. What more do  you need.

It can be used on a computer, tablet or phone. It is truly accessible. If you have the smart phone app (that isn't the blackberry one) you can scan the bar code on an item to find out the calorie  and nutrition values.

It makes calorie counting that much more bearable. Also easier, it works out what calories you need to be eating to lose a healthy amount of weight each week. Not only can you log your weight, you can also input your vital statistics.

What it doesn't give you is will power. That you need to find all on your own, and for the most part is the hardest part of the battle.

Today has been a high calorie day. Not over my daily allowance but still higher than I normally would like. Weekends are going to be tough. Dealing with other people's opinions of what I should eat and balancing it with what they want to eat. Or basically I need to get stubborn and not give in.

So Happy Easter everyone. Tomorrow I'm being a brave little toaster and going for a spa day, something that is totally outside my comfort zone. I have no idea what to expect at all.

I'm also playing with starting a YouTube channel to go along with this blog.

Day 4: Journal 18/4/2014

Beware.
Winge approaching.

Why is it when I say what I am planning to eat for the next 3 months, do I then get asked what do you want for lunch. Granted I don't have the best track record when it comes to keeping my side when eating well and eating clean, but still I tend to last longer than 3 days.

It's hard though when you have a partner who doesn't quite get what it is you are trying to achieve and that you have set yourself a goal and have that urge right now to get your teeth into the bit.

I have believe issues like many women. However, I also have the belief that I can do anything that I want to do, and I know that I can do anything I actually put my mind to. It's keeping the focus that I have problems with.

I'm a little scatty like that. I can be doing something, and doing it well and then suddenly it's ooh shiny thing, glitter, pigs in wellies and I lose track completely and never really get the focus back again.

I also have a habit of just giving in for a quiet life. Which is not the best thing for a person, but does normally lead to a slightly quieter life.

I've also decided that I will step away from the daily weighs so I can have that big number once weekly. Weigh in day will be a Wednesday. Equidistant distant between the weekends so I can make headway before and if it does go slightly wrong I'll also have time to undo the weekend before the next one.
